Firearms ship only to a licensed FFL dealer

Capital Arms LLC is a Federal Firearms Licensee in Fairfax, Virginia. Under federal law we can ship a firearm only to another holder of a Federal Firearms License (FFL). We do not ship firearms to a home or business address.

At checkout you choose the dealer who will receive your firearm, usually a gun shop near you. You can search licensed dealers by ZIP code or enter your dealer’s details yourself. Before you order, please call the dealer to confirm they accept transfers from online sellers and to ask about their transfer fee.

Virginia residents and buyers within 50 miles of our store can also choose to pick up in our store in Fairfax, Virginia, by appointment on Mondays.

The dealer’s license copy

Federal law requires us to have a signed copy of the receiving dealer’s license before we ship. When you place your order, we email your dealer to request it (or ask you to have the dealer send it to info@capitalarmsva.com with your order number). We also verify the license with the ATF.

If we do not receive the dealer’s license copy within 14 days of your order, we cancel the order and refund you in full.

Processing and delivery times

Orders ship within 2 business days after payment is approved and the dealer’s license copy is received and verified.
Firearms ship by FedEx Ground (or FedEx 2Day, if you choose it at checkout) with adult signature required at your dealer. FedEx Ground usually takes 1–5 business days, depending on the distance to your dealer.
Shipping is charged per order and shown as a separate line at checkout, calculated from the receiving dealer’s address. There is no handling fee.
If we cannot ship within the time stated, we will email you with a new shipping date and give you the option to cancel for a full refund.
We email you the tracking number when your order ships.

Picking up your firearm

Contact your dealer before you go to confirm they have received your firearm.
Inspect the firearm at the dealer before you complete the transfer. If it is damaged or not what you ordered, do not accept it; ask the dealer to contact us and we will arrange the return at our cost.
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. The dealer completes ATF Form 4473 with you and runs a background check (NICS or your state’s point of contact).
You must be at least 18 years old to buy a shotgun, and you must be legally allowed to own a firearm where you live.
Most dealers charge a transfer fee. That fee is paid to the dealer, is not included in your order total and cannot be refunded by us.
Your state may require a permit, license or waiting period before the transfer (for example a FOID card in Illinois or an FPIC in New Jersey). We show these notices at checkout, but you are responsible for meeting your state’s requirements.
Please pick up your firearm within 14 days after it arrives at your dealer. If it is not picked up, the dealer may return it to us, and the order is handled as described in our Returns & refunds policy.

State restrictions

Some firearms in our catalog cannot be sold to residents of certain states or shipped to dealers there. These products are marked on their product page, and checkout will not let you complete an order that we cannot lawfully fill. The check uses both your state of residence and the state of the receiving dealer.

Where we ship

We sell to U.S. residents and ship within the United States only. We do not ship to P.O. boxes, APO/FPO addresses or outside the U.S. Firearms and their export are controlled by U.S. law.

Lost or damaged shipments

Firearms are insured in transit. If the package arrives damaged or something is missing, report it within 48 hours of delivery to your dealer at info@capitalarmsva.com so we can file a claim with the carrier and replace the item or refund you.
